The New York Cosmos are sending some of the best players in New York City to play alongside some of the biggest names in the sport against Manchester United in the Paul Scholes Testimonial Match. Here are the players from the New York Cosmos U-23 team that will be representing the Cosmos as they take the field for the first time in over 25 years. 

Armando Gaitan
Midfielder
Age: 18 Nationality: American
Another player earmarked by topdrawersoccer.com in their players to watch round up, Gaitan is a promising central midfielder with talent to burn. A product of the Cosmos Academy West.

Yannick Reyering
Defender
Age: 26 Nationality: German
German-born Reyering has experienced a rags to riches football career. Having attended the University of Virginia, the central defender was spotted by the club while playing football in a park. Reyering's arrival was inevitable, however. His physical, defensive savvy - twinned with an eye for goal from set pieces - makes him an asset at both ends of the pitch.

Marvin Iraheta 
Midfielder
Age: 19 Nationality: El Salvadorian
Already earmarked as one of the most promising footballers in America, Iraheta is a product of the New York Cosmos's west coast Academy and has impressed coaching staff with a string of muscular performances in central midfield. US website, Topdrawerscoccer.com recently placed him in their "Players To Watch" category. Marvin was the US Soccer Development Academy National Player of the Year for U18 to U17 age group.

Chad Calderone
Goalkeeper
Age: 31 Nationality: American
Regarded by New York Cosmos coaches as one of the best goalkeepers in the city, Calderone made his reputation playing football for Rockville Centre, Albertson and East Fishkill. He later trained professionally with AC Colorno in Italy before being signed up for the Cosmos's first fixture.

Dane Murphy
Midfielder
Age: 25 Nationality: American
A leader on the pitch, Murphy acts as the link between bench and players when he runs the midfield for Cosmos Academy Director, Giovianni Savarese. His experience proves invaluable: though never making an MLS appearance, Murphy spent six months in the reserve team at DC United where he played as a central midfielder and centre half.

Stefan Dimitrov 
Forward
Age: 26 Nationality: Bulgarian
A player for the New York Cosmos U23 team - a side comprising young players looking to make the professional grade with Cosmos should the club become the 20th MLS team in 2013 - Dimitrov is a striker with an MLS track record: he's already played for the Chicago Fire and is viewed by manager, Cobi Jones as a potential goalscoring threat.

Ibrahim Diaby
Midfielder
Age: 18 Nationality: American
Diaby is one of the most successful products from the New York Cosmos Academy, one of the two football development centres owned by the club; the youth development programmes are located on the east and west coast of the country. Though still taking classes at the Martin Luther King Jr High School in Manhattan, he is considered one of the club's hottest prospects.
