Results from the Cosmos Academy at the Development Academy Winter Showcase

December 9, 2011 - The New York Cosmos Academy sent their U-16 and U-18 teams to participate in the 2011 Development Academy Winter Showcase at the Premier Sports Complex in Sarasota, Florida. The Showcase ran from December 2nd to December 6th. All 78 Development Academy clubs played three games in Florida against fellow Development Academy clubs from across the country.

Now Accepting Applications for Cosmos Copa NYC 2012

We are now accepting submissions for new teams to participate in Cosmos Copa NYC 2012.  Founded in 2009 in New York City, Cosmos Copa is one of the most prominent amateur adult soccer tournaments in the United States. Situated in one of the world's great cosmopolitan meccas, Cosmos Copa was created to bring New Yorkers together to enjoy the city's rich cultural diversity through the spectacle of soccer.

Don Garber Talks New York Cosmos in State of the League Teleconference

November, 10th, 2011 - MLS commissioner Don Garber discussed MLS expansion and The New York Cosmos in his annual "State of the League" teleconference.  Talking to media from around the world, Commissioner Garber discussed a wide range of topics including scheduling, playoff formatting, his vision for Major League Soccer and The New York Cosmos. He stated that on his travels around the globe, "people seem to ask about two things, when are the Cosmos coming into Major League Soccer and how is David Beckham doing?"

Management Update From The New York Cosmos

November 2, 2011 (New York, NY) - There has been a buyout at The New York Cosmos and management changes have taken place in various areas of our organization. This also results in a full restructure of both our business and staffing, which will continue to be assessed by the new leadership team that is expected to be appointed within the next 60 days. It is unequivocally the goal of the current ownership to become an MLS team in the most expedient manner possible, and decisions for the club will be made with this in mind.

Paul Kemsley Steps Down as Chairman/CEO of The New York Cosmos

October 26, 2011 (New York, NY) – It was announced today that Paul Kemsley will be stepping down from the board and resigning his position as Chairman/CEO of The New York Cosmos. Kemsley wishes to pursue other interests and commitments, and the Board of Directors of The New York Cosmos is in full support of his decision. A new Chairman/CEO will be announced in the coming months. Business will continue as usual for the club and its day-­‐to-­‐day management.

Fan Contest: Design The Cosmos Official Club Scarf

UPDATE: We are no longer accepting submissions for the Official Club Scarf. Thank you very much to everyone who submitted designs. We will post the winners to facebook in the next week. We want our supporters to help us design the first-ever Official Club Scarf of The New York Cosmos. This is your club, and we want you to have the final say in your club’s scarf, too. We will post five (5) initial scarf designs to facebook, purely for inspiration. The rest is up to you.

This Day in Cosmos History: Pelé Leads the Cosmos to 1977 Championship

On August 28th, 1977, Pelé played his final competitive soccer match when he lead The New York Cosmos to a 2-1 win against the Seattle Sounders in Soccer Bowl 77 in front of over 35,000 fans at Portland's Civic Stadium (now Jeld-Wen Field.) Steve Hunt opened the scoring when he stole the ball off of Sounders goalkeeper Tony Chursky to bundle the ball in to the back of the net:
