Entrevista con Cosmos U23 Jugador Marvin Iraheta

Ha pasado más de un año, 1 de agosto de 2010 para ser exactos desde Pelé anunció en el descanso de la final de la Cosmos Copa NYC que los Cosmos de Nueva York iba regresar.
Desde el anuncio, la organización Cosmos ha estado muy ocupado en la creación de una conciencia de su intención de convertirse en el segundo club de Nueva York de la MLS. Junto con su campaña de marketing, los Cosmos se han reunido periódicamente con la MLS y los funcionarios de Nueva York con el fin de cumplir con los requisitos esperados de cualquier grupo de la propiedad que espera que se conceda una franquicia de la MLS.
Si usted tiene buenos recuerdos del los Cosmos o simplemente creen que es sólo una organización aprovechando su historia, estamos de acuerdo en que los Cosmos ha sido cubierto por los medios de comunicación en todo el mundo.

El viernes pasado marco la primera vez en más de 25 años que el equipo legendario, los Cosmos de Nueva York jugaron un juego profesional contra el Manchester United en Old Trafford para el Testimonial de Paul Scholes.
Los Cosmos perdieron 6-0 contra unos del los mejores equipo en el mundo pero estoy seguro que nadie estuvo sorprendido por los resultados. Lo bueno de este juego que siete de los jugadores que ahora juega para los Cosmos PDL fueron seleccionados para jugar por Pelé y Eric Cantona, el Director de Futbol para los Cosmos.
Con la oportunidad de la vida, ellos representaron los Cosmos con legendarios futbolistas como Brad Friedel, Robbie Keane, Gary Neville, Patrick Viera, y Fabio Cannavaro.

Marvin nacio en El Salvador. El se mudo a los Estados Unidos hace dos años. Durante muchos años, el padre de Marvin vivio en los Estados Unidos ahorrando el dinero para traer su familia a la “tierra de oportunidad.”
Marvin me dijo que él tiene dos hermanos quien vive en Colorado, uno se quedó en El Salvador, y otro con los padres de Marvin en Fresno, California. Él admitió que extraña a su familia, pero que ama las puertas proverbial del fútbol la oportunidad se ha abierto para él en los Estados Unidos.

César Diaz: ¿Marvin, que quieres que la gente sepa de Usted?
MI: Sólo he estado aquí durante algunos años y estoy viviendo el sueño Americano. Venir a vivir aquí de El Salvador y de ahora estoy viviendo un sueño que muchos niños en todo el mundo solo se acercan en los sueños ... la vida es buena.
CD: ¿En una semana vas a jugar contra Manchester United en el Old Trafford, que piensas de eso?
MI: Sabiendo que voy a estar jugando con Robbie Keane, Patrick Vieira, Fabio Cannavaro y ante el Manchester United en Old Trafford ante un lleno total es una experiencia que nunca olvidaré. También estoy contento de que mi familia va a llegar a verme jugar en la televisión.
CD: ¿Cómo fueron tus sesiones de entrenamiento?
MI: ¡Tremendo y educativo! Entrenando con Fabio Cannavaro, Patrick Vieira, y Michel Salgado en frente de Eric Cantona y Pelé es una experiencia que nunca olvidaré.
CD: ¿Cuál fue tu reacción cuando te enteraste que ibas a empezar con el Manchester United en Old Trafford?
MI: Estaba emocionado y nervioso al mismo tiempo. Hace dos años, me acababa de mudar aquí de El Salvador y ahora iba jugar contra el Manchester United en Old Trafford por el testimonio de Paul Scholes es algo que soñé, pero nunca me imaginé que en realidad sucederia. No sólo iba a jugar contra un equipo que me veo en la televisión, yo también estaba jugando junto a jugadores con los que creci siguiendo como Patrick Vieira y Fabio Cannavaro.
CD: Por favor, describa sus pensamientos y emociones a medida que salistes del túnel y en el terreno de juego en Old Trafford.
MI: Me sorprendió porque nunca en mi vida había competido en un partido donde hay más de 70.000 personas. Estaba nervioso, pero Fabio Cannavaro se mostró muy comprensivo de mi situación y me calmó con un consejo y la seguridad de que estaba bien estar nervioso.
CD: ¿Cómo se siento su familia cuando ellos te vieron en la televisión?
MI: Mi familia siempre me ha apoyado en mi carrera de fútbol y ellos estaban muy orgullosos de mí.
CD: ¿Cuál es tu opinión de la derrota por 6-0 ante el Manchester United?
MI: No hay vergüenza en perder contra un equipo del calibre del Manchester United. Son un gran equipo y fue un honor jugar contra ellos. Yo creo que nosotros (los Cosmos) llevamos esta experiencia, aprenderemos de ella, y la pondremos en práctica.

More than a year has passed, August 1, 2010 to be exact, since Pelé announced during half time of the Cosmos Copa final that the New York Cosmos would return.
Since the announcement, the Cosmos organization has been very busy creating awareness of its intent to convert itself into the second New York MLS club. Along with its marketing campaign, Cosmos has also met periodically with the MLS and other New York functionaries with a goal of complying with the requirements expected from any group that expects to be granted an MLS franchise.
Whether you have good memories of the Cosmos, or simply believe that it is only an organization taking advantage of its history, we are in agreement that the Cosmos has been covered by all communication mediums throughout the world.
While the inclusion of Pele, Eric Cantona and Cobi Jones, as well as the latest Cosmos gear and apparel may have received the majority of Cosmos-related news, it is the Academy which best represents the mission of the organization - “Develop and Inspire world-class players…both on and off the pitch.”
Last Friday marked the first time in more than 25 years that the legendary team, the New York Cosmos, played a professional game – against Manchester United at Old Trafford for the Paul Scholes Testimonial.
The Cosmos lost 6-0 against one of the best teams in the world, but I am sure that no one is surprised by the results. The good thing about this game is that seven of the players who now play for Cosmos PDL were chosen by Pele and Eric Cantona, the Director of Soccer for the Cosmos.
Given the opportunity of a lifetime, they represented the Cosmos along with legendary footballers, Brad Friedel, Robbie Keane, Gary Neville, Patrick Vieira and Fabio Cannavaro.
By joining the Cosmos team along with other players that have completed more than 1,000 international matches, the seven PDL players were part of the first team from the United States to have played a match against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Despite the 6-0 loss to Manchester United, the Cosmos team made history and seven of its players were capable of living an experience that millions of children and soccer enthusiasts worldwide can only dream of.
And this was to play a game against 74,731 fans at Old Trafford.
I intereviewed Cosmos PDL player Marvin Iraheta before and after the match.
Marvin was born in El Salvador. He moved to the US about two years ago. For several years, Marvin’s father lived in the United States to work and save enough to bring his family to the “land of opportunity.”
Marvin told me that he has two brothers who live in Colorado, another brother that stayed in El Salvador, and another who lives with Marvin’s parents in Fresno, California. He admits that he misses his family, but he loves the proverbial doors of opportunity that soccer has opened for him in the United States.
Here is the interview:
César Díaz: Marvin, what do you want people to know about you?
Marvin Iraheta: I’ve only been here for a few years and I am living the American dream. To have come to live here from El Salvador and now living this dream that many children in the world can only dream of…my life is good.
CD: In a week you will be playing against Manchester at Old Trafford – what do you think of that?
MI: Knowing that I will be playing with Robbie Keane, Patrick Vierira, Fabio Cannavaro and against Manchester United at a sold-out Old Trafford is an experience that I will never forget. I am also happy that my family will be able to watch me play on television.
CD: How were your training sessions?
MI: Tremendous and educational! Training with Fabio Cannavaro, Patrick Vieira and Michel Salgado in fron of Eric Cantona and Pele is an experience I will never forget.
CD: What was your reaction when you found out that you wre going to start against Manchester United at Old Trafford?
MI: I felt emotional and nervous at the same time. Two years ago, I had just moved here from El Salvador. To play against Manchester United at Old Trafford for the Paul Scholes Testimonial is something is something I could dream of but could never imagine that it would become a reality. Not only was I going to play against a team that I watch on television, but I would be playing next to players which I’ve watched while growing up, like Patrick Vieira and Fabio Cannavaro.
CD: Please decribe your thoughts and emotions when you came out of the tunnel onto the grounds at Old Trafford.
MI: I was surpised because never in my life had a played in a match where there were more than 70,000 fans. I was nervous, but Fabio Cannavaro was very understanding of my situation and he calmed me with advice and also assured me that it was ok to be nervous.
CD: How did your family feel when they saw you on television?
MI: My family has always supported my soccer career and they were very proud of me.
CD: What is your opinion of the 6-0 loss against Manchester United?
MI: There is no shame in losing to a team of the caliber of Manchester United. They are a great team and it was an honor to play against them. I think that we (the Cosmos) will take this experience, learn from it ana put it into practice.
CD: Thank you for your time Marvin.
