The Draw is set for the Cosmos Copa Qualifying Tournament

NEW YORK – In a an event at Manhattan restaurant Favela Cubana, the teams hoping to qualify for Cosmos Copa 2013 learned who they’ll have to beat to get to the main tournament.

Cosmos to Host Champions League Viewing Party

The New York Cosmos are hosting a viewing party for the UEFA Champions League Final. Join Cosmos players at Prost Grill & Garten in Garden City, NY to watch Borussia Dortmund take on Bayern Munich. There will be drink specials for Cosmos fans and you'll also be able to take your photo with the 1977 NASL Championship Trophy.

The Carolina Railhawks, FC Edmonton and Fort Lauderdale all gained three points during week six of the North American Soccer League Spring Season At the midway point of the Spring Season, the Railhawks are now alone at the top of the table with 11 points. Tryout Winner Profile: Ansger Otto

Second chances don’t come around very often. Second chances to become a professional athlete are even more rare. In Ansger Otto’s case, he earned a special second chance in pursuit of becoming a professional soccer player. The recent Iona College graduate was selected to attend the Cosmos Combine in February, but forced to miss out after due to an injury. That didn’t keep the 23-year-old from giving up his dream though.

Tryout Winner Profile: Samuel Archer

Queens Native, Samuel Archer, has a special ability to turn coaches’ heads. The winner of the New York Cosmos open tryout in Queens actually won another tryout earlier this year. “This past season, I went to the Chicago Fire’s open tryouts and they selected me as the winner,” Archer said.

In 1976, Pelé scored one of the most famous goals in Cosmos history with this bicycle kick against the Miami Toros. The Cosmos return to the playing field for the first time in nearly 30 years on Aug. 3 at Hofstra University's Shuart Stadium when they face their old rivals, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. It’s been a long journey for Yuriy Mazur, the winner of the New York Cosmos open tryout in Brooklyn. “I grew up playing soccer in Ukraine,” Mazur said. “I played soccer from the third grade in an academy and I also played semi-professionally in the second division in Ukraine. Most of my life, I’ve been playing soccer.”
