Three New York Cosmos players have been called up by El Salvador Head Coach, Eduardo Lara, for two international friendly matches in preparation for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Midfielders Andrés Flores and Richard Menjivar, and forward Irvin Herrera, will travel with El Salvador to Curaçao for an exhibition match against the national team next Wednesday.
La Selecta will then face Honduran club, Olimpia, in Houston on Sunday, March 26th.
All three Cosmos players helped El Salvador qualify for the Gold Cup via third-place finish in the 2017 Copa Centroamericana. Flores wore the captain's armband and assisted Herrera's goal in the deciding match, a 1-0 victory over Nicaragua.
Herrera has represented his country on 13 occasions, scoring two goals since his National Team debut in March 2015. Menjivar, who has 36 caps and a goal for El Salvador, has also featured in the National Team's 2013 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cups.
The Cosmos will be on the road against Puerto Rico FC in their season opener on Saturday, March 25th before facing Miami FC on April 1 in their first home game at MCU Park. For tickets, visit www.nycosmos.com or call (855) 712-6766.
