The New York Cosmos announced today the return of goalkeeper coach Steven Diaz. He is entering his fifth season with the club in that role.
“I’m excited to be back for my fifth season with the club,” Diaz said. “I’m looking forward to getting on the field and working with our goalkeepers.”
Diaz first joined the club as a player in the 2014 season when he served as the backup ‘keeper to Jimmy Maurer and Kyle Zobeck before taking over a coaching position in 2015. During his time with the club, the Cosmos won two championships in the NASL and Cosmos B earned the North Atlantic Conference title in 2018 after a perfect 10-0-0 regular season in NPSL play.
"We're very happy to have Steven back with our staff," Cosmos head coach Carlos Mendes. "He's someone who knows our club very well and was a vital part of our success over the years."
More info on the team and 2019 NPSL Founders Cup will be announced at a later date.
