Cosmos Season Tickets on Sale to General Public April 12

Seats begin at $96 for team’s historic return to North American Soccer League The New York Cosmos announced today that season tickets for the 2013 NASL Fall Season will go on sale to the general public Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at NYCosmos.com or by calling 855-71-COSMOS. The Cosmos return to the playing field for the first time in nearly 30 years on Aug. 3 at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium when they face their old rivals, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

Flashback Video: Giorgio Chinaglia Goal vs Fort Lauderdale Strikers

On Aug. 17, 1977, Giorgio Chinaglia scored the equalizing goal against Gordon Banks to help the Cosmos advance over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the NASL Division Championship. The Cosmos would go on to win the NASL Championship that year, beating the Seattle Sounders in Soccer Bowl '77 in Portland in Pelé's final competitive game. 

Savarese on the Five Tryouts in Five Boroughs

On Tuesday, the New York Cosmos announced that they would be hosting a series of tryouts throughout New York City. Head coach Giovanni Savarese spoke to us about what he was looking for in the tryouts and spoke of his own experience trying out for a professional team in New York.

Cosmos to Hold Five Open Tryouts Throughout NYC

One tryout in each borough gives fans chance for trial with the Cosmos The New York Cosmos announced today that the club will hold five open tryouts for soccer players. Each tryout will commence in a different borough of New York City, open to anyone 16 years of age or older. The Cosmos coaching staff will select at least one participant from each tryout to join the team for a preseason trial.

Rick Davis in Conversation: Part One – Club & Country

Signed by the Cosmos in the wake of their legendary 1977 championship season, Rick Davis quickly became a fan favorite and the face of American soccer, winning three NASL titles before leaving the Cosmos in 1984. Davis was capped 36 times with the U.S. men’s national team and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2001.

Shep Messing Visits PS 192 for America SCORES

Shep Messing recently visited a class at PS 192 in Harlem as part of America SCORES, a non-profit organization that combines poetry and soccer to encourage underprivileged youth to live healthy lives.  As part of the after-school program, the students all wrote letters to the legendary Cosmos goalkeeper, describing their favorite parts of the communities they reside in and the parts of the communities that they would like to improve. Messing then shared the letter he wrote to the class about his community.
