On August 1st, 2010, at halftime of the final of Cosmos Copa NYC 2010, Pelé announced to the world that The New York Cosmos were back. 

On that day, Pelé also announced the Cosmos' partnership with the Queens based soccer club, BW Gotschee and the Los Angeles based LAFC, to form Cosmos Academy East and Cosmos Academy West, respectively. 

Now, a year later, The Cosmos are on the verge of taking the field again for the first time in over 25 years when they play Manchester United at Old Trafford for the Paul Scholes Testimonial Match on August 5th.
