New York Cosmos U23 Join Premier Development League

May 4th, 2011 (Tampa, Fla.) – United Soccer Leagues announced today that New York Cosmos U23 will field a team in the Premier Development League (PDL), and will become a full member for the 2012 season. New York Cosmos U23 will play a limited exhibition schedule against PDL competition during the 2011 season, and will not be eligible for the playoffs or the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The PDL franchise will be led by longtime USL player/coach Giovanni Savarese, who is also a member of the 2007 USL Hall of Fame.

Cosmos Academy Weekend Results

May 3rd, 2011 - Both Cosmos Academies had successful weekends with Cosmos Academy East teams picking up five wins against long-time rival, Met Oval, and Cosmos Academy West U14 and U16 Pre-Academy teams advancing to the next round of the National Cup. Malcom Jones Heads to U.S. U-14 National Training Camp

April 27, 2011 - The U.S. U-14 Boy's National Team head coach Manny Schellscheidt will bring 38 players to The Home Depot Center in Carson, California for an eight-day training camp starting May 1st. The Cosmos Academy at the 2011 Dallas Cup

April 21st, 2011 - The Cosmos Academy played at the Dallas Cup last week, the oldest international youth soccer tournament in the US. Both U13 and U16 teams advanced to the quarterfinals but did not progress after facing two difficult opponents. See below for the final results. Under 13:

Cosmos Academy West at 2011 State Cup

March 14, 2011 - Cal South's State Cup President's Division is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country.  Cosmos Academy West was the only club to have all three age groups represented (U9, U10, U11).  Only in its first year, all teams walked away as Finalists.  As Todd Roby, Director of Communications for US Youth Soccer says, "California is one of the most competitive states for youth soccer.  Players on the U.S.

Cosmos Academy West U9 Vs CV Manchester

March 10th, 2011 - Cosmos Academy West U-9 defeated CV Manchester 6-4 on Sunday, March 6, 2011.  Player #10 stole the show, scoring all 6 goals for the Cosmos.  Jeff Illingworth, Director of Coaching for CV Manchester says it was "one of the best games I have ever been involved with in the past 30 years" and that "Cosmos West probably have the best player in the United States, #10....." Esteban Rodriguez Scores Goal in US U-17 National Team Win

February 14, 2011 -- Cosmos Academy West player, Esteban Rodriguez, scored a goal that helped take the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team to a 3-1 win against Cuba in their opening group match of the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship in Jamaica. Alfred Koroma opened the scoring and Esteban Rodriguez (Cosmos Academy West) added a third as the U.S. improved their unbeaten record against Cuba in U-17 qualifying to 4-0-2 lifetime. Cosmos Academy West Continues Membership in USSDA

February 7, 2011 – The New York Cosmos confirms that the Los Angeles Futbol Club (LAFC) has terminated its relationship with the club, however, this does not affect Cosmos Academy West in any manner (which includes U9 through U18 teams in the academy).  In addition, Cosmos Academy West will continue its membership in the United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA).
