On August 28th, 1977, Pelé played his final competitive soccer match when he lead The New York Cosmos to a 2-1 win against the Seattle Sounders in Soccer Bowl 77 in front of over 35,000 fans at Portland's Civic Stadium (now Jeld-Wen Field.)
Steve Hunt opened the scoring when he stole the ball off of Sounders goalkeeper Tony Chursky to bundle the ball in to the back of the net:
Seattle equalized but Giorgio Chinaglia scored the game winner with a header to give the Cosmos their second NASL championship and a fairy tale ending to the legendary Pelé's career.
