August 5th, 2011 - Paul Scholes ended his glorious career in style as his Manchester United side defeated a New York Cosmos club returning to the pitch for the first time in 26 years. The Cosmos were being managed by Manchester United idol and New York Cosmos Director of Soccer, Eric Cantona, who mentored a young Paul Scholes when he was coming through the ranks at United.

Umbro's Spectacular Dale Street Space has been the Cosmos home away from home on their trip to Manchester. The New York based Cosmos U23 players got new custom cleats to use for their match against Manchester United while Cosmos legends Carlos Alberto and Shep Messing told stories from the team's legendary heyday in the 1970's and 1980's. The New York Cosmos are sending some of the best players in New York City to play alongside some of the biggest names in the sport against Manchester United in the Paul Scholes Testimonial Match.
